Total Prosthesis - Complete Dental Prosthesis
Total Prostheses
It is applied to mouths where all teeth are missing.
Full dentures fill and inflate the cheek and lip depressions. The teeth used in prostheses can also be designed as porcelain in the front group. In this case, aesthetic satisfaction is high.
The full denture in the upper jaw occupies a much larger area than the full denture in the lower jaw, and the presence of the tongue in the lower jaw causes the prosthesis to move more, and the existing bone volume also affects retention. Since tooth loss generally occurs earlier in the lower jaw, the bone melts more and the retention of the prosthesis becomes less.
Since palatal dentures are dentures that can be put on and removed, they are more difficult to use than other dentures. It can be easily placed and removed on the lower and upper jaw, but fixed prosthesis comfort and chewing efficiency are not expected.
When it is first worn, scratches and wounds may occur in some areas, but after the cuts are removed and used for a certain period of time, it gets used to it and functions as if it were the person's own teeth.
Complete dental dentures last for many years when good care and hygiene are provided. In cases of weight loss or osteoporosis, loosening and shifting of the prosthesis may occur over the years.
